Tripp Lite Introduces PDU and Ethernet Switch Combos to Save Rack Space
CHICAGO, IL: Tripp Lite, a manufacturer of power protection and connectivity solutions, has unveiled Power Distribution Units (PDUs) that have a built-in Gigabit Ethernet switch to help IT managers save rack space.
The newly introduced PDU Ethernet Switch Combos combine and merge a PDU and unmanaged network switch into a single 1U (1.75 inches) device. It comes in 2 variations, namely NSU-G16 and NSU-G24C2. Specifications of these two variants are the same with the exception of Ethernet ports and outlets.
NSU-G16 offers 8 outlets and 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports, whereas NSU-G24C2 comes with 12 outlets and 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The devices are equipped with green Ethernet technology which turns off inactive and detects the length of connected network cables in order to make effective use of power.
Tripp Lite’s PDU’s provide support for jumbo frames up to 9216 bytes and the 24 port model has Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC)/ small form-factor (SFP) for optical network uplink to additional units. It also comes with 8K address Media Access Control (MAC) address table.
“We’re excited to introduce our new PDU Ethernet Switch Combos. They will help every IT manager accomplish what is always asked of them: Do more with existing rack space,” says David Posner, Product Manager, Tripp Lite.
